READY FOR IT!

The Business of Becoming

Owning a small business is bananas. But it’s also magical.

First, you dream, and then you build, creating something from nothing. It’s thrilling to see your work gain traction, grow, and blossom into something real. But it doesn’t stop there. You pivot. You revise some things and maybe even scrap some ideas altogether. You’ll make these changes to survive and, if you’re lucky, thrive again. It’s equal parts exhausting and thrilling. One day, you might just look up and realize your business has become something even greater than you imagined.

Boutique Studio, Designed Different

If you’ve ever browsed our website or overheard us chatting at a local coffee shop, you may have heard us refer to our business as a boutique creative studio — and we mean that wholeheartedly. Graphic design is at the core of everything we do, and that foundation has opened doors to a wide variety of services.

When we started, we focused solely on wedding invitations and stationery. While our love for paper goods is still strong, we eventually realized we had more to offer. In the wedding world, this meant expanding into signage and day-of materials. Beyond weddings, it meant diving into branding and creative support for small businesses. Every step along the way brought us back to the same truth: we’re passionate about modern, thoughtful, beautiful design.

Where We Started

Sign & Sealed began with two friends who not only shared a love for design — but also the same first name (hi, we’re both Megan). We started side by side, working on passion projects for friends and family, each looking for a helping hand and a trusted eye to bring their vision to life. Weddings quickly became our creative sweet spot, blending everything we love: fine papers, luxe print techniques, heartfelt connections, and meaningful details. Designing invitations felt like second nature from the start, and in many ways, it is the heart of what we do.

But soon, the world asked more of us. Clients started requesting logos and branding. Fellow small businesses in our orbit needed design support. It felt exciting — and a little intimidating. Imposter syndrome showed up, but we said yes anyway, every single time. Little by little, we expanded our offerings, drawing on our broader backgrounds and industry experience. Branding sparked new creativity, helped us reach a wider audience, and provided a sense of stability in an ever-changing world. Diversifying became both our safety net and our next big adventure.

Where We Are Now

Branding for small businesses has quickly become one of our biggest passions. We’re drawn to that spark — when an idea gets them out of bed (after the coffee, of course) and fuels their every move. Supporting other creatives and entrepreneurs brings us so much joy. We’ve even had the honor of designing for fellow wedding vendors, creating a beautiful overlap between our two worlds.

That’s where the magic happens: in the sweet spot between collaboration and creation. We’re always exploring new ways to better serve our small business clients. Recently, we piloted a one-day design intensive with a trusted client — one designer, one client, one focused day — to tackle design challenges with precision, intention, and momentum.

Behind the scenes, we’re using our favorite tools: Figma, ClickUp, Google Workspace, Adobe Creative Suite, QuickBooks — plus a little Canva, Powerpoint, and Keynote when requested — keeping our processes and outputs collaborative, usable, efficient, and (most importantly) fun.

Why This Matters for Our Business

Thinking outside the box has allowed us to grow in ways we never imagined. Staying open-minded and giving ourselves permission to evolve has made us stronger, both personally and professionally.

It hasn’t always been smooth sailing. Not every idea has been a hit. Some seasons were tough. However, our wide skill set, deep love for strategic design, and the people we’ve met along the way have helped us keep going. It’s kept us steady during uncertain times and focused on the bigger picture.

We feel ready for whatever’s next. And when fear creeps in, hope — and hustle — keep us moving forward.

How We Support Our Clients

Running a business can feel isolating. Trying to bring a vision to life without support is overwhelming (we’ve been there). We’ve worn all the hats, juggled them, swapped them, and handed some off when we could. That lived experience? It’s our superpower. We’ve felt it (and honestly, still feel it sometimes). That’s why we approach every meeting and every project with the same question: How can we support you or help find a solution?

We want every client, whether you’re planning a wedding or building a brand, to feel supported, seen, and inspired. We believe design is more than decoration. It’s a way to communicate what you offer and who you are. It brings clarity, joy, and connection. It marks a fresh start. A new chapter. And we’re honored to be part of yours.

What’s Next for Sign & Sealed?

The future is uncertain — but we’re here for the growth. Every new service, every new experiment, reminds us that we’re evolving. And that’s the goal.

This year, we’re expanding our semi-custom invitation collections to help more couples access thoughtful designs on a tight timeline or budget. We’re also retooling our website design services, now available to both wedding clients and the small businesses we continue to support.

At the same time, we’re exploring new ways to make our branding offerings more accessible. Think bite-sized, cost-effective options tailored for small businesses at every stage.

And yes — our dream of launching an online shop and seeing our designs on local shelves is still alive and well. That’s our unicorn.

Stay tuned.

Fun Fact: Our first workshop table? A pool table. (Yes, we protected the felt. Yes, it was iconic.)
